It’s time to remember what it’s like to feel alive.
.
.
To the girl crying on the floor of the shower, unsure how the world will keep spinning, I want you to know there is beauty ahead, so many life-giving moments to experience.
There are hammocks to dangle in, as creeks flows next to you,
There are shooting stars to see, while lying next to roaring waterfalls.
Sunrises to watch, wearing nothing more than a blanket.
Full moons to dance under and
New lips to kiss.
If you choose, you can walk across the Grand Canyon and one day, even feel confident camping alone.
There are long drives to make, while your thoughts have time to explore their bounds.
You will say goodnight to the sun, over and over, while watching the sky turn to fire, as the sun slowly dips below the horizon,
And you will say yes to a first date, only to bravely set boundaries and say ‘no’ to a second.
The breeze and crickets are waiting to serenade you to sleep and campfire flames wish to be the backdrop to your dreams.
There are men, with foreign accents, to flirt with, as you backpack Europe solo.
You will buy a van and randomly meet other free spirited nomads in the desert; as you dance below lasers, campfire flames will propel you forward to a more free stage of life.
You will sleep in a hammock in the mountains; when you awake to the first rays of dawn, you will slip into a towel, walk 100 feet and drop it next to the hot spring which trickled next to you all night.
You will control the oars of a 2,500lb white water raft, through Class 3 rapids as loving support and encouragement cheers you on.
There are peaks to summit, canyons to drop into and caves to explore.
There are paddle boards to balance upon, beneath a moonlit sky, as a comet dangles behind you, only here for a week, and then gone again for 6,800 years.
And my dear girl, somewhere right now, there is a stranger you will eventually fall head over heels in love with.
I guarantee you life will be beautiful again, my darling girl.
This I solemnly promise you.
So get yourself up off the shower floor. Towel off, dry your tears and wipe the mascara from your eyes. Don’t abandon the calling on your life - make a choice.
Abandon worry, abandon doubt and choose.
Choose to live.
